Employment trends in Marbella remain positive; although August often marks the beginning of job losses as the high season winds down, the data remains strong.
After six consecutive months of growth, Social Security registrations have now begun to fall, following the usual seasonal pattern.
According to data just released by the Ministry of Social Security, Marbella had 87,179 registered contributors at the end of August—a decrease of 1,237 compared to July (-1.39%).
This represents the highest number of registrations for any August since records began in 2003.
In terms of absolute figures—regardless of the time of year—it is the second-highest figure recorded in the last 23 years, surpassed only by the record set last July.
